hair

why do we have hair?

this is just a random thought that entered my head today as i was styling my amazing mane on my head. so, obviously, i interviewed a couple people

jacob severson says that we have hair for warmth. (i don't like that answer)
cody kaveh said the same thing. ugh. he says its an insulator. thats why we have goosebumps because there are muscles attached to the hair follicles that make the hair stand straight up when you are cold.
okay mister scientist.
josh is in his room and probably doesnt care about my survey.

anyways. i just wonder what exactly the purpose for hair is. why do women typically have longer hair, and why do guys typically have shorter hair?
we were made in God's image right? does god have hair? does being made in his image mean the physical? or does it mean the mental an the emotional?

anyways.
i like my hair.
thank you god for it.

love, kelsy

consuming fire

so last night i went to love hop. i gotta admit, it was pretty weird and i wasn't exactly feelin it, but God works even if you're in an uncomfortable situation in which you aren't very open.

we started out with prayer requests and just personal prayers and such, and it was really weird because i just couldn't focus on what anyone was saying. it wasn't that i didn't care, my mind just kept wandering to different places. after that, we just started chatting about life and god and such and i forget who said it but it was said that we shouldn't come here with expectations from god, just come with an open heart.
i didn't listen
i begged god
i needed something
he NEEDED to show me something.

i haven't necessarily had doubts lately about my faith, i just feel like its at a standstill, so i needed something to ingnite a spark inside of me.
i can't say that happened last night, but i can feel it happening.
everyone prayed over me to receive the holy spirit, but my heart, my soul was fighting back. believe me, i want the holy spirit to work in me in ways unheard of, but for some reason i just couldn't receive him. then it hit me during quiet time.

i started just doodling on a piece of paper, and suddenly i couldn't control my writing. my hand was going nuts and in big bold letters on the piece of paper, it said "you don't have room for both"

i knew exactly what it meant.

throughout my life, i've forgiven for the wrongs that have happened. actually, i've told myself that i have forgiven. because inside deep deep down, i new that it was still there. i have held on to absolutely everything and it has built up inside of me, forcing me to become something that i never wanted to be. bitter.

those words hit me like a ton of bricks. i needed to let go so that i could have room for so much more. so much more important things. so much more godly things.

i honestly can't say that the letting go process has started, but i have recognized and accepted what needs to happen. then the spark with turn into a fire. and the fire will become unstoppable.
it will take a lot for this to happen, but i know god will be here through it all
god in my hurting.
there in my weeping.

so i'm already lagging on this blog stuff, but i guess i'll get better as time goes on.
work is getting better. i find it to be more interesting when i people watch instead of just sit there telling myself i hate it the ENTIRE time. it's interesting to watch people, you know. you look at them, you wonder where the heck they came from. like for instance, a man that comes in every single day and gets a venti green tea frappuccino and sits there and reads his book until we close. he's probably at our store at least 10 hours a week, i'd say. and you just think to yourself (or at least i do) i wonder what he's like in real life, like outside my little starbucks world. i wonder if he has a family, what he's like, how he grew up, what his parents were like. sometimes i invent little stories in my head about people. you should try it sometime, it's pretty entertaining.

and then you get the jerks that come in and you wonder how the heck they got so dang mean. maybe their parents were mean to them or something, so now they have to be mean to the poor baristas that just want to make them coffee and have a good day. maybe that makes them feel better. maybe i should just be happy that they are being mean to me, because if that's what makes them feel better, then i'm glad to be a part of it. right? this guy came in the other day and wanted a refill on his coffee. but he only wanted it "two thirds full". so i was nice and polite and nodded to him, but no...he had to stop me and say "are you even good with fractions?" does demoralizing me really make you feel better? i don't think they realize i'm a human half the time. but at the end of the day, i just have to laugh about it because sometime people can just be so stupid.

anyways, enough about work. church was absolutely amazing last night and the worship was even better. the topic was on the resurrection, something that i have struggled to understand for a very long time. i'm a facts type of girl, and currently can find no corroborating evidence outside the bible to support the actual resurrection of Jesus. i mean, i haven't really started looking too hard, but i shall in the near future. so THE SEARCH IS ON. pray for me on that one, because i really need these answers.
other than that, God is good. he gets me through the day every single day. i have lately been reminded of all the blessings in my life. my amazing family, my awesome boyfriend, my great job, and my neverfailing friends. thank the lord for all of you.
i have a lot more to say, including deets about my first day of school today.
but that's the end.
for now

this is my first blog

so this is my first blog. i'm pretty sure this is going to take some getting used to, but i guess for this one i'll just explain myself. my name is kelsy. i'm a christian and am so in love with the lord. right now i live in long beach and am currently trying to figure out life. it's a confusing thing, you know. i attend cal state univeristy, long beach, but am in the process of trying to take educational leave and continue my studies at a community college so that i can save money while i'm figuring out what the heck i want to do with my life. i'm also trying to find another job. i've worked at starbucks for almost three years, and guess what? i don't even like coffee. so anyways, as you can see, i'm going through a lot of changes in life right now, but the important thing that i'm slowly learning the hard way is that God is my constant and that i need to always depend on him. Yaweh-yireh. the lord will provide. ALWAYS.
